COMMENT
The Catalina 42 needs little introduction being one
of the most
successful fast cruiser designs afloat.
Catalina
Yachts have resisted the temptation to downgrade the
good basic specification. The
medium displacement is backed by
a solid ballast ratio of over 40%.
The plethora of hatches and
opening ports increase comfort in warm climates and if it
gets too
bad there is always the aircon.
Safe, comfortable and fast, with
much of the best in modern design whilst retaining sea
sense,
she is a successful cruiser with a great reputation.
This
yacht was purchased by the present owner in Hong Kong 1997
where she had been lightly used since new.
She was then
substantially upgraded for her ocean passages to the
Mediterranean.
The
cruise to Cyprus was done in two eight month periods and she
has
since been laid up ashore whilst being professionally looked
after.
She appears to be in fine order and her inventory is
modern and
very extensive, much of it new in 1997.
