My name is Jesse Brett. I am a USCG certified captain (Masters 100-ton, tow/sail endorsements). The following is a brief listing of some of my sailing experience, and some general personal information about me. I am preparing to move to the Santa Cruz area around Christmas, and will be looking for work. I am currently in Hawaii operating a 45' racing catamaran on the beach in Waikiki. The boat is inspected for 49 passengers, and is beached between sails. My job as captain is to keep the boat in good condition, and run 5 sails a day out into heavy seas and strong winds (often 30+ knots) for high-speed "thrill rides", sometimes surfing the cat down the face of 6-10' waves. Given a light temperamental boat and heavy conditions, this has provided me with a great deal of major maintenance experience as well, everything from rebuilding stripped winches to building new rudders, and everything in between.
Until June of this year I was captain of the Graziafelice, a 70' luxury catamaran operating out of Roatan, Honduras. I managed 5 full time crew (2 non-English speaking) and run up to 5 trips a week on the boat. Between trips we worked hard keeping the boat in peak condition. Graziafelice has two 120HP diesels, 6 air conditioned staterooms, 6 heads, a bar, and more amenities than can be listed here. My job was to keep all this flowing smoothly, working on an island in Central America with extremely limited resources. The boat is now in the best shape it has ever been, and the business is making more money than it ever has.
Last December I was teaching ASA sailing and maintaining a fleet of 18 charter boats (25' to 47' sloops) for Marina Sailing, one of the largest charter operations in Southern California. I was also teaching the Sailing 101 course at USC, and working part-time as a captain for Access to Sailing, an organization in Long Beach CA that provides sailing instruction for disabled and mentally handicapped students as part of their rehabilitation. The summer before, I finished a trans-Atlantic crossing from Tortola to the Azores (2500 miles, 19 days) aboard the 43' sailboat Iona. See my reference from Tim Esson, owner of the vessel.
For my first commercial job, I was working as a captain for Sebago Catamarans in Key West, driving 2 Gold Coast cats, 65' and 53'. My job was driving/docking the boat, performing boat upkeep and maintenance, and supervising 2-4 deckhands. For the last 6 years, as well as throughout my childhood, I have sailed extensively in the Bahamas, Mexico, US East Coast, and throughout the Caribbean.
In 2000-2004, I sailed my own 30' sloop with no engine down the Thorny Path to the Dominican Republic from Miami, spending 2 years island hopping down. During that time, I also worked for 2 months as a paid captain aboard a 42? Hunter through the Bahamas, and from the Dominican Republic to Fajardo, P.R.
I grew up on sailboats, and except for a 5-year period (college) I have always lived aboard boats, first on a 29' wooden boat, then on a Morgan 34. I have a degree in Computer Science, know DC & AC electrical, diesel & gas engines, sail repair, rigging, anchors, refitting, fiberglass work, electronics. If it's on a boat, I have worked on it at some point. I have enjoyed working seasonal jobs and traveling in the past, but would be interested in a permanent position on the right boat.
I am a US citizen, have a valid passport, and no legal problems. I don't use any drugs, and am willing to be tested at any time. I am young (27), agile, athletic, 6'3", 200lbs, clean cut and respectable in appearance. I have my own GPS, satellite phone, and other more basic equipment. I am PADI Rescue Diver certified and have current CPR & Medic First Aid certifications (with Emergency Oxygen and Defibrillator training).

"classes" for non-profit organizations to public charters, both daysails and

200' 500 ton oilfield supply vessels (as Ableseaman/Wheelman).
The oilfield vessels did the full range of jobs from carrying crews
and cargo from the shore side dock to the offshore platforms and rigs
to "live boating" as Captain for hard hat (commercial) divers in the Gulf of
Mexico.
I have held my Captains license and my AB Document since 1982.
(continuously=I am currently on Issue #5=24 years experience)
I feel that my diverse work experience and mature attitude would make
